Ghana Reads Deployed in Fanteakwa
World Vision Ghana continues to strengthen its partnership with OLE Ghana as it signs a new contract to deploy the Ghana Reads programme in Fanteakwa in the Eastern Region of Ghana. As is always done the OLE Ghana team spent a week from the 14th to the 20th of February to give the kick-start training to introduce the teachers to the Ghana Reads programme. The schools which have been introduced to the programme are St. Francis R/C primary school, Bosuso D/A primary school, Bosuso Presbyterian primary school and Adjeikrom Presbyterian primary school, all located in the fanteakwa District of the Eastern Region.

After the training, the Office of World Vision Ghana presented the items to the schools and the communities. Present at the ceremony were the District Chief Executive, the district director of Education, the chief of Begoro, the communities as well as teachers and pupils of the selected schools. The OLE Ghana Team also had the opportunity to on a personal level explain how the programme works to the directors and the chief who were present at the ceremony, giving them an in-depth knowledge of the programme and the technology involved.

The selected schools were each given stabilizers, laptops, tablets, wifi devices, raspberry pis with sd cards, speakers and headphones. The schools and communities were charged to take proper care of the equipment given and use it for the desired purpose for which they were purchased. OLE Ghana is hopeful that the introduction of the Ghana Reads programme will help improve the reading abilities of the pupils, get them to learn to read and then read to learn!
